YouTube

YouTube is a great source of video materials - there's a mix of serious and friviloius, but you're sure to find something you want to watch.

YouTube can be found at www.youtube.com/

Like most of the tools we'll be looking at today, you can search and view material without creating an account on the site.

However, if you do have an account you can upload your own material, rate other people's videos, tag them as a favourites and leave comments.

If you want to take part in this exercise, you'll need headphones.

For this exercise:
  1. Load up YouTube in your browser
  2. You'll see lots of videos publicised on the homepage
  3. Locate the search box; you can search for the content you wish to view
  4. Type in 'National Library of Wales'.

You'll be able to see a wide range of materials for the National Library - some of them put up by the library itself, and some uploaded by others.

Notice that in the entry for Descent of an Angel, you can see a link that says 'llyfrgen'. This is the username of the person that uploaded the video.

Click on their and you'll see all their videos (called a 'Channel').

Click on the video you wish to use view.

Next steps

Go back to the homepage and search for a video on some aspect of the work you do.
